About Us – Dohasa

In a tranquil workshop in China in 2019, two founders with a shared dream attempted to launch their first bamboo thumb piano on the eve of the Spring Festival. It was a tribute to the art of music, as well as an exploration of the future possibilities for the kalimba.

But our exploration did not stop there. On top of tradition, we strive for innovation. “Ji Lai”—our pioneering resin craft kalimba. Today, this design, inspired by the deep-sea blue whale, has achieved tremendous success in the market.

Over the years, we have gained our own understanding of the kalimba, pursuing innovation in visual arts on the basis of respect for tradition: “Sound Meets Elegance.” We believe that the touch of music comes not only from sound waves; it begins the moment you see the instrument. We are committed to simplifying the essence of music in the design of the kalimba while endowing it with an artistic form, making each touch a dual journey of sight and sound.

The essence of an instrument is a bridge that connects the spirit with the surrounding world. What it conveys is not just the melody itself, but the pure fusion between the soul and the notes. Every moment of plucking the strings is an exploration of the beauty of the senses, allowing one’s divinity to be revealed.

The name Dohasa is composed of the Sanskrit word दोहा “dohā”and the Buddhist term “Saha” representing the meaning of achieving inner harmony and true enlightenment through practice and experience.
